Delta Dialogue Series - Intergenerational Solidarity and the Climate Emergency

Tuesday, 17 January 2023 | 09:30 - 10:45

Young people around the world have taken a leading role in calling for action to address the climate emergency that is set to worsen during their lifetimes. In contrast to the agency of young people, older people are viewed as vulnerable to the rising temperatures and extreme weather events caused by climactic changes.

The fourth seminar in our Living Deltas Delta Dialogue Series drew upon research and practice to challenge common public and policy assumptions about older and younger people and the climate crisis. Our speakers Javeria Afzal (HelpAge International), Shripathi Hadigal (Restless Development), Ngoc-Anh Pham (Youth4Climate) and Siobhan Warrington (Living Deltas) made the case for an intergenerational approach to advocacy and action to respond to the crisis facing different generations today and in the future. Our speakers each delivereed a short presentation, followed by a panel discussion.
