That’s a wrap! Final Community Digital Storytelling Workshop Complete

The final "Community Digital Storytelling and Delta Futures" workshop took place in Tran De, Soc Trang, Vietnam from July 18 to 22 organised and led by Dr Angelos Theocharis in collaboration with Hub parter Can Tho University. The workshop is the last in a series of workshops which have taken place across the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) Delta in Bangladesh and the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.

In the most recent workshop 8 members of the local Indigenous Khmer community created short films about the impact of the climate crisis on delta livelihoods and cultural heritage. The films cover a diverse range of topics, encompassing the impact of salinisation and climate change on rice farming, weather irregularities and fishing, environmental degradation and labor migration, water pollution and health issues, as well as the challenges faced in preserving traditional cropland cultivation and fishing practices.

Despite the intense rainfall, they managed to shoot outdoors in various locations, capturing the complex socioecological challenges of the Khmer people as well as their hopes for the future.

Screenings will soon take place so that the films can be shared with the local communities and we aim to co-create a platform with the communities where all videos wll be available.
